Grange Preparative Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

For some considerable time a number of Friends in our Meeting have felt the need for a Statement of our Beliefs to be available for distribution, especially amongst our younger Friends and attenders.

After much thought and consideration we have prepared the following Statement. In doing so it is our prayer and great desire that it shall be used of God to strengthen our faith and to draw others into a living relationship with Christ:-

Statement of Belief

Grange Preparative Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends adheres to the great foundation truths of Holy Scripture. We regard the whole Bible as the inspired Word of God and of final authority, and that there is no salvation, except through the atoning work of Christ, who is God manifested in, the flesh and revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. We commend to all our Members and Attenders the reading of, and serious consideration of, the following extracts from our Book of "Christian Experience" -

"We sincerely declare that we do own and believe in God, the only wise, omnipotent and everlasting God, who is the Creator of all things, both in Heaven and in Earth. We do own and believe in Jesus Christ, His beloved and only begotten Son, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. We have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. We believe that He alone is our Redeemer and Saviour, even the Captain of our Salvation. We sincerely believe that the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are one in Divine being inseparable, one true, living and eternal God blessed forever. And as concerning the Holy Scriptures, we do believe that they were given forth by the Holy Spirit of God, through the Holy men of God who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is a mighty fact. It recognizes the existence of moral evil, and brings us face to face with the awful truth that "all have sinned” the remission of sins is by virtue of Christ's most precious sacrifice, and not otherwise. The Lord Jesus Christ and His redeeming love must be the central theme of all our preaching, for only thus can the deepest needs of man's heart be met. No rite, or outward membership in any Church can make us Children of God To every member of each successive generation the words of our Lord are alike applicable: "Ye must be born again.” (John Chapter 3, Verse 3). It is the work of the Holy Spirit of God to convince of Sin. Believing in His name we become Sons of God, and because we are Sons, God sends forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts to lead us into all truth".
